Deer Valley Luxury Basement Finish & Entertainment Lounge

BeforeAfterThe story
A dated 1990s storage basement in Deer Valley transformed into the home's favorite room: a true mountain-modern entertainment lounge with stone fireplace, wet bar, and lit wine wall. We re-engineered the egress, ran new low-voltage for a full AV setup, and finished the space with white oak millwork and quartz waterfall edges. The owners now host every Sundance week downstairs.
Scope of work
Full demo of dated paneling, popcorn ceiling and carpet. New framing for wet bar and media wall, full electrical re-pull with dedicated AV circuits, low-voltage prewire (Cat6, in-wall HDMI, dedicated 20A audio), 2-zone HVAC supply tie-in, code-compliant egress enlargement, dry-stacked stone fireplace feature wall with linear gas fireplace, custom white oak built-ins with backlit wine display, quartz waterfall wet bar with brass plumbing fixtures, 7" wide-plank engineered white oak flooring, coffered ceiling drywall detail, recessed LED + warm pendant lighting on dimmers.
FAQ
Do I need a permit to finish a basement in Park City / Deer Valley?+
Yes. Summit County requires building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits for any basement finish, plus an enlarged egress window if you're adding a sleeping room. We pull every permit and schedule inspections so the finished square footage is recognized by the county assessor and future appraisers.
How much does a luxury basement finish cost in Utah?+
A high-end finished basement in Park City, Deer Valley or Heber generally runs $85–$160 per finished square foot, with wet bars, stone fireplaces and AV pushing the top of that range. This 1,400 sq ft project landed at $95K–$130K all-in.
How long does a basement remodel take?+
Plan on 8–12 weeks once permits are issued. This project ran 9 weeks: 1 week demo, 2 weeks rough framing/MEP, 2 weeks insulation/drywall/stone, 3 weeks finishes (flooring, cabinets, bar, lighting), 1 week punch list.
Can you add a wet bar with a real ice maker and dishwasher?+
Yes — we routinely add full wet bars with ice makers, beverage centers, dishwashers and bar sinks. It requires a dedicated cold-water line, drain tied into the main stack, and 1–2 dedicated 20A circuits. We coordinate with a licensed plumber and electrician on every project.
